What is Karate?
Karate is a martial art that first began in Japan way back in the 5th century BC! Your aim is to defeat your opponent by using a mix of kicking and striking. At it's very core, this martial art attacks by the hand, fist, legs and elbow against the vulnerable parts of your opponents body such as the carotid artery, liver, etc.
How the word is formed?
The word Karate is formed by the two Japanese words, "Kara" and "Te". The word "Kara" means empty and the word "Te" means hand so the complete meaning of the word "Karate" is fighting with empty hands.
What a Karate expert can do?
Any unarmed Karate expert can defeat his or her armed opponent by using the fighting tips of this martial art. Karate prepares a trainee not only physically but also psychologically to defend himself against any armed or unarmed opponent.
Karate also teaches how to fight against an opponent without really hurting them - Karate experts don't get violent with opponents, because they need to stay calm and calculating. An angry person cannot perfectly use his knowledge.
Pupils learning the principles of Karate will understand the working and movement of the joints and muscles, and have a greater understanding of the relationship between his movement and balance.
